In late March, regarding the 2024 Q2 MJP, a Reuters reporter in Tokyo (Yuka Obayashi) once again reported [1] that "some manufacturers" are willing to pay $145/mt as the 2024 Q2 MJP (Main Japanese Ports ) surcharge (premium). Compared with $90 in the first quarter, it is clear that market expectations have increased significantly. However, this news is relatively early, and we can’t say for certain on the price now!

On April 3rd, the latest news came from Yuka Obayashi[2]. The price "some manufacturers" are willing to pay is $148/mt. The price is even higher! As the Japanese economy continues to recover, the outlook for the future is significantly more optimistic than 2023 in terms of demand for aluminum alloys.
